Why you should do something that scares you every day

I fully understand that some of you may well be asking why would you want to do something like that. Is life not stressful enough without exposing yourself to even more grief? Have you not got more than your share of problems to contend with – life is tough right now?

At the risk of stating the ******* obvious, we are all going through difficult times and that is the whole point of this article. We have got used to hiding behind the sofa, talking to people from behind masks, afraid to go out.

Lockdown has become the new normal and it is about time that we started to get our lives back together and we can only do this if we start to think positive, to visualise the good times. Positive thinking is about setting goals, having something to strive for.

C’mon, you remember that feeling, the days when you woke up ready to take on the world. Have you still got that drive and enthusiasm or has the world decided to fight back? If that is the case then what happened – and much more importantly – what are you going to do about it?

Doing something that scares you could be as simple as going to the shops, going back to work, meeting friends and neighbours after 12 months in lockdown. Only you can take your life back, only you can choose to get outside you comfort zone – it is only fear of the unknown that is holding you back.

On a more ambitious note, why not reach for the stars. Choose to start that new business, begin that diet or fitness regime, change your job, go for a makeover – this is your life we are talking about here and it is time to set new goals.

I expect you can think of dozens of good reasons for doing nothing and that’s where positive thinking takes over. It is only your fears that are holding you back, those little nagging doubts, the what if moments, the great unknown.

Only you can kickstart your life and now is the perfect time, but it can never work if you are in the wrong mindset. If you are going to do something new then you have to throw yourself into it and have the faith and belief that it is going to work – and work well.

A whole new future is ready to open up for you if you are ready to take those first few tentative steps. Plan for it, look at potential obstacles and have a strategy for overcoming them, set time constraints.

Now is the time to lock into Powerful Positive Thinking. Visualise yourself succeeding at whatever you have chosen to do, imagine being successful and then decide what action you are going to take to make your dream come true.

Action is a key part of positive thinking. The Universe likes you to have a great mindset but is not averse to a little extra help from time to time. So, work out what you need to do to help bring your dream into fruition.

Of course, you must remember to keep it real. If a lottery win is a key part of your strategy, then the chances are you will never succeed. You have to believe that you will succeed to really succeed if you catch my drift – and let’s face it, it is difficult to believe that millions will appear as if by magic.

Keep your ideas grounded, be positive and you have started a new journey towards success. Then you will be ready to do something that really scares you.

And when you have done that once you will want to do it again. Your old enthusiasm and drive will start to come back, life will begin to improve. It is down to you to take those first steps and even if you don’t want to be the next Richard Branson just make sure that you get out of that comfort zone.

When you do, you will be amazed at just how quickly positive change for the better comes into your life. Go for it.

Positive thinking is invisible – so can it be real?

The problem with positive thinking is that no one can see it. For these modern day ‘doubting Thomas’s’ it is invisible – so in their minds - it cannot be real. These are people who choose to be selective in their ideas. They cannot see the air they breathe, but they have no doubt of its existence. They cannot see atoms, but they accept that they are all part of us – so what’s the difference?

For those of us that have experienced the power of positivity, we know by its very nature that it is based on faith, in many ways similar to that of religion. When you have that faith, it has been proven that you can achieve just about anything- but as most of us already know, there is a lot more to it than that.

It is not just about visualising positive outcomes, it is not about daily affirmations, it’s about choosing to be a better person. Positive thinking when totally embraced becomes a way of life and when you realise the potential it offers – then everything really is possible.

But what does this mean in practice. Let’s think about it for the moment. If you are a happy and open person then others are more likely to help you. If you are a grouch or a bully then you are someone to be avoided. You will not receive the cooperation or help that you need in quite the same way.

Positive people tend to be happier and more outgoing, so in turn they attract more friends, more opportunities and more of the good things in life. Those with an attitude, those who think the world owes them a living, drive everything away from them.

Positive people do not gossip behind the backs of others, they are instead supportive of friends and colleagues. These are the people that do not let others down, have strong principles, the kind you can go to for advice and help when needed.

Negative people are predominantly selfish and self-centred. They have no feelings for others unless they believe there could be a profit in it for them. They cannot be trusted and while they might make short term gains at the expense of others, karma will eventually catch up with them.

But what about all the good things in life that positive thinking is meant to attract - more money, better health, a decent relationship, success, a new job? The simple answer is that everything you desire can be yours, but if you are not a positive person by nature then it is all going to be an uphill struggle.

That’s why positivity has to be a way of life, faith that no matter what, all will turn out for the best, faith that you will always succeed regardless of the odds, faith that you will always achieve all of your goals.

When you are in this mindset you will accept that setbacks are merely a way accepting that the Universe wants you to change direction, you will know that you will learn from your mistakes and emerge stronger from the experience.

When you have totally embraced positive thinking, it is then when you can use the tools such as daily affirmations and visualisations.  You can train your thoughts to realise your objectives and while you are in this positive mindset the Universe will be listening and getting ready to deliver your dreams.

This is the bit that is really invisible that the critics cannot see and will never understand. They find it impossible to comprehend that faith can move mountains to allow people to achieve their goals in life.

But just look around at all the successful and happy people you know. They have already embraced positive thinking to some extent and the more that such people accept the world and the potential it offers then good things automatically follow.

So, if you are ready to be a super powerful positive thinking person then take a look in the mirror. You can choose the type of person you want to be. Decide to choose positivity and you will have taken the first step towards attracting everything you need.

Of course - you will never see its power working quietly in the background, because it really is invisible - but you will know that it is there, you will feel its presence and support and little by little your life will be transformed.

Whatever you are facing – never give up

If you feel you have reached rock bottom then read on – what have you got to lose? If you are on the way into that dark pit of despair then reach out for this safety net because I can tell you that you have more power than you realise – you have just forgotten how to use it.

You might believe that life has this peculiar way of hitting people when they are down. It does seem that way sometimes, but it is not actually true. The reality is your lack of ability to deal with even the most trivial of issues because circumstances have done their worst and ground you down until you are no longer able to cope.

There are many stories over the ages where people have suffered extreme hardship and adversity and have managed to overcome their problems. Countless battles have been won against all the odds. I have lost count of the number of examples of those in poverty who have acquired great riches.

Look around at the legion of handicapped people who manage to lead by example, rise to the top of their professions by overcoming their disabilities and letting nothing stand in their way. They have shown that by a combination of determination, action and positive thinking that they will never be beaten.

Yes, I know you have heard it all before. I expect you are also fed up with all of those who keep saying how grateful you should be, because you have many things that others don’t. Being grateful for what you have and remembering to say thank you for those advantages is covered by other blogs on this website. Let’s concentrate for the moment on why you want to give it all up.

Maybe it has just got too much. Perhaps everything seems to have gone wrong all at once with a combination of bad situations and challenges such as job loss, broken marriage, massive financial problems or serious health issues.

These life changing events have the power to sap your strength and willpower until you feel you can no longer put up a fight. Most of us have been there at some time, when depression and anxiety take over and for a while there seems no way out. That’s when you must never give up.

At this moment the dark side is dictating the agenda and it will continue to do so until you say stop, but how do you summon the strength to fight back? There is one way and you do it little by little. Do not be afraid to ask for help. Be prepared to tackle those problems one by one and most importantly try to imagine how you want things to turn out. Focus on those goals and imagine that you have already reached them.

If you give up you can never get back into the light. It does not mean you have to change anything overnight – take baby steps and gradually things will alter. Never give up, never let these things beat you and always remember you are stronger than you think.

This applies to everything you do in life, whether you are looking for business success, riches, better relationships – your choice. Everything you desire is available and you have the power to make it happen if you wish.

Perhaps we should begin by looking at the kind of person you are. Maybe you have always rolled over when things started to get a little difficult. The Universe will deliberately put obstacles in your way if it thinks you are going in the wrong direction. This does not mean that you should give up at the first hurdle, it is simply a reminder that you might want to consider changing course a little.

If you take it as a sign that everything you are doing is wrong then you can never hope to succeed. Very few can get it right first time, it takes experience, a bit of trial and error, adjustments here and there. The road to success is littered with wrong turns and poor assumptions, but that does not mean you have to give up.

This applies to everything you do whether that be business, relationships, your health or even your greatest aspirations. The only thing that is stopping you from being the best in whatever area you choose – is you.

Col. Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame tried to sell his world-famous recipe to investors more than 1,000 times before finally succeeding – he never gave up – and there are many more stories just like this.

You might also like to know that NASA in the 20th Century never forgot that their main objective was to land a man on the moon, but in hindsight they had to admit that 98% of the time they were getting things wrong – how’s that for a story of never giving up.

So, let me ask the question – what’s your next step? Will you be giving up or are you ready to start fighting back?

That’s the trouble with the Law of Attraction

Well let’s start with the good news – it can be – but you first need to start thinking about your problems in a different way. By focussing on all the things that are bothering you, you simply magnify all of your personal issues and that Great Amazon of the Universe keeps on delivering more of the same.

That’s the trouble with the Law of Attraction. It is very literal and assumes that when you focus on things that worry you, then that is exactly what you want. It is the cosmic equivalent of the “computer says no.”

It goes a long towards explaining why positive thinking fails for so many and why you have to think better if you are going to change your life. Thinking better is not about ignoring your problems in the hope that they will go away – it is about being better in everything you do and looking at alternative ways of thinking.

It is a process you can handle in easy stages. Things will not change overnight but every journey has a beginning and while you are on the way to your final destination then you can set about altering the things that you no longer need.

Look on it as your personal road map or satnav. Every time you encounter a hurdle or a jam then let your satnav work out a new route with a little help from you. If you were on a journey then you would be reaching your destination one stage at a time, stopping perhaps for a coffee break from time to time – there is no rush – it is all about getting there.

So, let’s begin. If you were in a car then you would first programme your final destination. It is easy to do that in a vehicle and it is not so difficult in real life – all you need is to imagine how much better you would be without your current problems.

Visualise a situation where you are no longer bothered about paying the bills, worrying about your health, dealing with stroppy teenagers – this is your list we are talking about here so make sure you have everything worked out - write it down if it helps.

Take a bit of time over this because you have to be sure exactly how you want your life to change. This is what I mean about being better and thinking better. Never forget that the Law of Attraction is very literal.

If you are sure you have got it right then be excited about the prospect of positive change in much the same way as if you were starting a long journey to meet an old friend or relative or starting a holiday. You would be looking forward to that so look forward to your new life because you will be getting nearer to it every day.

As you do, remember to be realistic. Car journeys can he affected in many ways – traffic accidents, punctures, delays – and real life is very much the same. You don’t decide to return home every time you hit a traffic jam or if your child is sick in the back – and the same things apply to your challenges or problems.

You have started your journey and by thinking and being better when you encounter a hold up, then you must plot a slightly alternative route, never forgetting that the final goal is to reach your ultimate destination.

When NASA was trying to land a man on the moon, they got it wrong more than 90% of the time, but they never gave up trying and they never forgot about the ultimate objective – and as we all know – the rest is history

The same applies to you if you encounter problems en-route. Think them through. Decide that you are not going to be beaten. Think what the problem is all about and what you are going to do in a realistic way. Find a solution, an alternative and you will, when you think better.

Reaching your final destination is about never giving up and always being sure of where you want to be. Focus on that and the Law of Attraction, that great Amazon of the Universe, will get the message – and it will start working for you.

The Powerful Positive Thinking Rule Book

Yes, it really is as easy as that, but sadly, positive thinking fails for many because their expectation has been falsely raised with the promise of easy riches and abundance and untold happiness and success – and because of this, most will fail to receive any benefit.

Positive thinking is like everything else in life – there are rules – and when you get them right, everything else you desire will follow. You cannot be a brain surgeon or the pilot of a fighter aircraft overnight – you need proper training – and it is the same with positivity.
So, for my regular readers I have devised the Powerful Positive Thinking Rule Book. It might not be what you want to hear, but if you can embrace these things, all the material possessions you desire will follow and happiness can be yours. These are the basics and when you can get them just right – the magic really begins.

Before you start

These are the things that you should set as goals. They are based on common sense and action, two of the core principles of Powerful Positive Thinking, but if you need help as to the best way to achieve them then please look at some of the other blogs on this website or e-mail us at hello@powerfulpositivethinking.org for some old-fashioned advice. It’s always good to hear from you.

Rule Number 1 -The things you should eliminate from your life

  • Killing time for the sake of it is wrong.
  • Stop saying that fate is against you.
  • Stop walking around looking miserable looking for obstacles that are not there.

How to think hard and be successful with a positive mindset

Everyone has a story of someone they know who has toiled all hours to achieve their goals – and they will frequently use that example to tell you that it is the only way to really get on. If that is the case, then why do we see so many hard-working men and women, exhausted at the end of each day with little to show for it.

So, what really is the key to success at work and what has it got to do with positive thinking? Thank you for asking because I am happy to tell you that there is a strong connection - and if you really understand how positive thinking works – then you can attract all the success you want without being drained or frazzled in the process.

How to work hard and to be successful should be renamed. It should be called how to think hard and be successful. That’s what top celebrities and leading businessmen the world over practice again and again – it is positive thinking in action and they know it works.

Check out these Superstars

People such as Jim Carrey, Oprah Winfrey, Jenifer Lopez and Denzel Washington, to name just a few, all practice positive thinking. They use affirmations each day to reinforce that positivity. They have never forgotten their humble beginnings and determination to succeed.

Yes, they all worked hard to develop their talents, they each chased every opportunity – that’s called positive thinking in action – but they never lost focus. They did not just work for work’s sake, they cultivated faith and a belief that all their efforts would end up in success.

Jim Carrey, today a leading Hollywood star, is is reputed to be the biggest believer in the power of positive mindset. Many years before becoming a successful superstar, he had this firm belief and vision that he would make it to the top.

He is on public record saying that nothing in this world happens without a thought and intention behind it. The rest is history, as they say and he is proof that imagined success and faith have turned him into a global celebrity.

Denzel Washington used affirmations to help him overcome a drinking problem. Jennifer Lopez, even now she is famous is reported to set aside at least 15 minutes a day to use positive phrases and affirmations and we know that Oprah Winfrey came from poverty to world fame supported by her belief in a positive mindset.

Don’t give up on your dreams

But what about you? Are you so busy working to pay the bills that you have forgotten all about your dreams? Are you living to work or working to live, but most importantly – have you given up any thoughts that life could be so much better?

So, what are you going to do about it? Don’t give me any excuses that you are too tired. I don’t want to hear that you feel beaten or overwhelmed because only you can take control of your life, only you can make a difference – and it starts with a single thought.

Start to day dream, begin to imagine how your life could be. Yes, I know you already do this on a daily basis, especially when you are feeling particularly down, but these are just random thoughts without structure or purpose – c’mon your mind is better and stronger than that.

Give your dreams purpose

Start to take a long hard look at these thoughts and give them purpose. Focus on goals that you believe can be achieved. Do not be tempted to go for the big prize in one leap – you will probably fail – but make instead a strategy that gets you there in easy steps.

Visualise success and have faith that your dreams will turn into reality. Reinforce them with daily affirmations that match your dream. Always be positive when you use affirmations – say them as if you have already achieved your goal and let the Universe do all the hard work.

Success comes when you think hard, when you have faith and when you are truly focussed. It comes from the mind and turns your hard physical work into reward. You will slowly see success with more money, promotion and recognition.

Use your positive mindset to change your life. You have the power to do this and it happens as soon as you decide that enough really is enough.
