Whatever you are facing – never give up

If you feel you have reached rock bottom then read on – what have you got to lose? If you are on the way into that dark pit of despair then reach out for this safety net because I can tell you that you have more power than you realise – you have just forgotten how to use it.

You might believe that life has this peculiar way of hitting people when they are down. It does seem that way sometimes, but it is not actually true. The reality is your lack of ability to deal with even the most trivial of issues because circumstances have done their worst and ground you down until you are no longer able to cope.

There are many stories over the ages where people have suffered extreme hardship and adversity and have managed to overcome their problems. Countless battles have been won against all the odds. I have lost count of the number of examples of those in poverty who have acquired great riches.

Look around at the legion of handicapped people who manage to lead by example, rise to the top of their professions by overcoming their disabilities and letting nothing stand in their way. They have shown that by a combination of determination, action and positive thinking that they will never be beaten.

Yes, I know you have heard it all before. I expect you are also fed up with all of those who keep saying how grateful you should be, because you have many things that others don’t. Being grateful for what you have and remembering to say thank you for those advantages is covered by other blogs on this website. Let’s concentrate for the moment on why you want to give it all up.

Maybe it has just got too much. Perhaps everything seems to have gone wrong all at once with a combination of bad situations and challenges such as job loss, broken marriage, massive financial problems or serious health issues.

These life changing events have the power to sap your strength and willpower until you feel you can no longer put up a fight. Most of us have been there at some time, when depression and anxiety take over and for a while there seems no way out. That’s when you must never give up.

At this moment the dark side is dictating the agenda and it will continue to do so until you say stop, but how do you summon the strength to fight back? There is one way and you do it little by little. Do not be afraid to ask for help. Be prepared to tackle those problems one by one and most importantly try to imagine how you want things to turn out. Focus on those goals and imagine that you have already reached them.

If you give up you can never get back into the light. It does not mean you have to change anything overnight – take baby steps and gradually things will alter. Never give up, never let these things beat you and always remember you are stronger than you think.

This applies to everything you do in life, whether you are looking for business success, riches, better relationships – your choice. Everything you desire is available and you have the power to make it happen if you wish.

Perhaps we should begin by looking at the kind of person you are. Maybe you have always rolled over when things started to get a little difficult. The Universe will deliberately put obstacles in your way if it thinks you are going in the wrong direction. This does not mean that you should give up at the first hurdle, it is simply a reminder that you might want to consider changing course a little.

If you take it as a sign that everything you are doing is wrong then you can never hope to succeed. Very few can get it right first time, it takes experience, a bit of trial and error, adjustments here and there. The road to success is littered with wrong turns and poor assumptions, but that does not mean you have to give up.

This applies to everything you do whether that be business, relationships, your health or even your greatest aspirations. The only thing that is stopping you from being the best in whatever area you choose – is you.

Col. Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame tried to sell his world-famous recipe to investors more than 1,000 times before finally succeeding – he never gave up – and there are many more stories just like this.

You might also like to know that NASA in the 20th Century never forgot that their main objective was to land a man on the moon, but in hindsight they had to admit that 98% of the time they were getting things wrong – how’s that for a story of never giving up.

So, let me ask the question – what’s your next step? Will you be giving up or are you ready to start fighting back?

That’s the trouble with the Law of Attraction

Well let’s start with the good news – it can be – but you first need to start thinking about your problems in a different way. By focussing on all the things that are bothering you, you simply magnify all of your personal issues and that Great Amazon of the Universe keeps on delivering more of the same.

That’s the trouble with the Law of Attraction. It is very literal and assumes that when you focus on things that worry you, then that is exactly what you want. It is the cosmic equivalent of the “computer says no.”

It goes a long towards explaining why positive thinking fails for so many and why you have to think better if you are going to change your life. Thinking better is not about ignoring your problems in the hope that they will go away – it is about being better in everything you do and looking at alternative ways of thinking.

It is a process you can handle in easy stages. Things will not change overnight but every journey has a beginning and while you are on the way to your final destination then you can set about altering the things that you no longer need.

Look on it as your personal road map or satnav. Every time you encounter a hurdle or a jam then let your satnav work out a new route with a little help from you. If you were on a journey then you would be reaching your destination one stage at a time, stopping perhaps for a coffee break from time to time – there is no rush – it is all about getting there.

So, let’s begin. If you were in a car then you would first programme your final destination. It is easy to do that in a vehicle and it is not so difficult in real life – all you need is to imagine how much better you would be without your current problems.

Visualise a situation where you are no longer bothered about paying the bills, worrying about your health, dealing with stroppy teenagers – this is your list we are talking about here so make sure you have everything worked out - write it down if it helps.

Take a bit of time over this because you have to be sure exactly how you want your life to change. This is what I mean about being better and thinking better. Never forget that the Law of Attraction is very literal.

If you are sure you have got it right then be excited about the prospect of positive change in much the same way as if you were starting a long journey to meet an old friend or relative or starting a holiday. You would be looking forward to that so look forward to your new life because you will be getting nearer to it every day.

As you do, remember to be realistic. Car journeys can he affected in many ways – traffic accidents, punctures, delays – and real life is very much the same. You don’t decide to return home every time you hit a traffic jam or if your child is sick in the back – and the same things apply to your challenges or problems.

You have started your journey and by thinking and being better when you encounter a hold up, then you must plot a slightly alternative route, never forgetting that the final goal is to reach your ultimate destination.

When NASA was trying to land a man on the moon, they got it wrong more than 90% of the time, but they never gave up trying and they never forgot about the ultimate objective – and as we all know – the rest is history

The same applies to you if you encounter problems en-route. Think them through. Decide that you are not going to be beaten. Think what the problem is all about and what you are going to do in a realistic way. Find a solution, an alternative and you will, when you think better.

Reaching your final destination is about never giving up and always being sure of where you want to be. Focus on that and the Law of Attraction, that great Amazon of the Universe, will get the message – and it will start working for you.

The Powerful Positive Thinking Rule Book

Yes, it really is as easy as that, but sadly, positive thinking fails for many because their expectation has been falsely raised with the promise of easy riches and abundance and untold happiness and success – and because of this, most will fail to receive any benefit.

Positive thinking is like everything else in life – there are rules – and when you get them right, everything else you desire will follow. You cannot be a brain surgeon or the pilot of a fighter aircraft overnight – you need proper training – and it is the same with positivity.
So, for my regular readers I have devised the Powerful Positive Thinking Rule Book. It might not be what you want to hear, but if you can embrace these things, all the material possessions you desire will follow and happiness can be yours. These are the basics and when you can get them just right – the magic really begins.

Before you start

These are the things that you should set as goals. They are based on common sense and action, two of the core principles of Powerful Positive Thinking, but if you need help as to the best way to achieve them then please look at some of the other blogs on this website or e-mail us at hello@powerfulpositivethinking.org for some old-fashioned advice. It’s always good to hear from you.

How to think hard and be successful with a positive mindset

Everyone has a story of someone they know who has toiled all hours to achieve their goals – and they will frequently use that example to tell you that it is the only way to really get on. If that is the case, then why do we see so many hard-working men and women, exhausted at the end of each day with little to show for it.

So, what really is the key to success at work and what has it got to do with positive thinking? Thank you for asking because I am happy to tell you that there is a strong connection - and if you really understand how positive thinking works – then you can attract all the success you want without being drained or frazzled in the process.

How to work hard and to be successful should be renamed. It should be called how to think hard and be successful. That’s what top celebrities and leading businessmen the world over practice again and again – it is positive thinking in action and they know it works.

Check out these Superstars

People such as Jim Carrey, Oprah Winfrey, Jenifer Lopez and Denzel Washington, to name just a few, all practice positive thinking. They use affirmations each day to reinforce that positivity. They have never forgotten their humble beginnings and determination to succeed.

Yes, they all worked hard to develop their talents, they each chased every opportunity – that’s called positive thinking in action – but they never lost focus. They did not just work for work’s sake, they cultivated faith and a belief that all their efforts would end up in success.

Jim Carrey, today a leading Hollywood star, is is reputed to be the biggest believer in the power of positive mindset. Many years before becoming a successful superstar, he had this firm belief and vision that he would make it to the top.

He is on public record saying that nothing in this world happens without a thought and intention behind it. The rest is history, as they say and he is proof that imagined success and faith have turned him into a global celebrity.

Denzel Washington used affirmations to help him overcome a drinking problem. Jennifer Lopez, even now she is famous is reported to set aside at least 15 minutes a day to use positive phrases and affirmations and we know that Oprah Winfrey came from poverty to world fame supported by her belief in a positive mindset.

Don’t give up on your dreams

But what about you? Are you so busy working to pay the bills that you have forgotten all about your dreams? Are you living to work or working to live, but most importantly – have you given up any thoughts that life could be so much better?

So, what are you going to do about it? Don’t give me any excuses that you are too tired. I don’t want to hear that you feel beaten or overwhelmed because only you can take control of your life, only you can make a difference – and it starts with a single thought.

Start to day dream, begin to imagine how your life could be. Yes, I know you already do this on a daily basis, especially when you are feeling particularly down, but these are just random thoughts without structure or purpose – c’mon your mind is better and stronger than that.

Give your dreams purpose

Start to take a long hard look at these thoughts and give them purpose. Focus on goals that you believe can be achieved. Do not be tempted to go for the big prize in one leap – you will probably fail – but make instead a strategy that gets you there in easy steps.

Visualise success and have faith that your dreams will turn into reality. Reinforce them with daily affirmations that match your dream. Always be positive when you use affirmations – say them as if you have already achieved your goal and let the Universe do all the hard work.

Success comes when you think hard, when you have faith and when you are truly focussed. It comes from the mind and turns your hard physical work into reward. You will slowly see success with more money, promotion and recognition.

Use your positive mindset to change your life. You have the power to do this and it happens as soon as you decide that enough really is enough.

10 New Year resolutions to help turn you into a “Super Positive Thinking Person”

Of course you are – what’s there to think about. But what are you really going to do to make positive change, or will it be the same as last year – lots of good intentions until you meet the first set back – or will it be different this time?

Maybe you are just wondering what you should be doing – so let me help. Here are my 10 best New Year resolutions to turn you into a Super Person – and if you are ready, we can begin.

Number One – No more negative words or phrases

When you say bad or negative things then you are attracting all the wrong stuff. Words like I am never lucky, I am not a winner, I cannot do this, other people are better than me, really do you harm.

You are telling the Universe that you are already beaten. Substitute them instead for words such as: I am always lucky, I can meet any challenge, no one is better than me, I am a winner – and the Universe will receive a totally different message.

Number Two – Change those thoughts

Negative thoughts are like words and are equally as corrosive. When you keep thinking of all the things that can go wrong and all of the stuff you don’t want to happen in your life, then the complete opposite happens – because that’s what the Universe mistakenly thinks you want.

Change those thoughts into all of the things that are going right. See your life getting better. Always think about how you want your life to work and discard any potential problems – the Universe will sort out the rest.

Number three – Like what you see

If you don’t like the image that’s looking back in the mirror then be assured – no one else will as well. If you see and focus in on every little blemish then all you will do is magnify that negative self-image and project it to the rest of the world.

Focus instead on the good things you like, learn to love yourself because there is no one else on this planet quite like you. If you think a couple of things need changing such as a new hair style, maybe some dental work – then vow to do it – but most importantly of all, look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are the main man or woman and you’re looking good – and do this every day.

Number four – Stop being so angry

When you are angry and bitter all of the time then you can never be a super positive person. You switch off everyone around you, you will lose your friends and most people will not like you very much or be willing to help or cooperate – which will make you even more angry.

Vow to get that temper under control, learn not to react in quite such an extreme way, foster patience when you are in situations that cause you stress and make you lash out. You can never be a positive person if you are angry all of the time.

Number five – Eliminate fears and anxieties

Fears and anxieties will always stop you from ever being positive. They will nag away at your self esteem and prevent all of the good stuff from coming into your life. Most of these fears have no basis in fact – they are simply things that your imagination has created and over the years you have magnified these thoughts and made seem worse than they really are.

If you need professional help then look for it, but if most of your fears are just natural anxieties then see them for what they really are and visualise different and more positive outcomes. As an example, just because you have had a row with a friend does not mean they will be out of your life forever. Vow not to magnify these things out of proportion.

Number six – Vow not to be alone

If you are starting the new year and you feel totally alone with your whole life crashing around you then it is going to be difficult to be positive. Only you can decide where your life goes from here. It is your choice to leave things as they are – or take action – one of the key components of powerful positive thinking.

Decide that this is the year when you are going to make changes. Decide that you will be ready to try new things. Choose to be brave and resolute and the Universe will be listening and guiding you in the right direction. Take control and the rest will follow.

Number seven – Choose to be decisive

If you are unable to make your mind up about anything, how do you hope to go forward in a positive direction. If you are a procrastinator it means that you keep putting off the things that would really take your life forward.

Vow that this year is the time when you will make positive steps to change all the things that you dislike in your life. You have left them long enough, but nothing will happen until you are ready to take some action and when you do, the Universe will be there to help.

Number eight – Always have faith

A key component of positive thinking is to have complete faith that everything you do will always work out to be good – even if sometimes that does not seem to be quite the case. Faith can make great things happen – you simply have to believe that you will always benefit in a good way.

If you combine faith with positive thinking then you are more likely to attract the things that you most desire such as wealth and happiness. See these things happening in your life and have faith, a real belief that only good stuff is coming your way from this moment on – and it will.

Number nine – Decide to fall in love again

If you are finding it hard to attract love into your life then decide to do something in a positive way to attract new people into your life. Join a club, go to a night school, become part of a drama society, but choose to take action. When you do this with the aim of meeting new people then the Universe will be listening.

If you are in a happy established relationship then decide to fall in love again with your partner. It’s enormous fun when you begin the remember the things that made you feel hot the first time you met – and very positive.

Number 10 – Choose to be your own person

Only you can allow yourself to be bullied, to be put upon, to be used as a doormat. If others are taking you for granted then now is the time to do something about it. Choose to help others under your terms, only do what makes you feel comfortable.

There are millions of selfless human beings across this planet who help others for no reward and no expectations, but just make sure that if you are one of those people that nothing can damage your self-esteem. Make sure that people see you for the super positive thinking person you really are. Make that choice.

Thank you everyone for reading and a Happy New Year.
